Product Details
In the dictionary, D-Block stands for the prison block where the most hardened criminals are held. In hardcore hip-hop, D-Block is both a record label spearheaded by The Lox, and the name of the group made up of The Lox and J-Hood. The majority of D-Block's works, including a few of the 21 new tracks and freestyles on Peer Pressure, also feature T. Waters and the duo, Team Arliss. The Lox first hit it big with their major label debut "Money, Power, Respect," on Bad Boy Entertainment in '98. Citing a series of problems with Bad Boy, the Lox waged a street campaign for freedom and in '99, split with label, and signed with Ruff Ryders Records. Learning from the raw end of the deal the group received under Bad Boy, Lox member Sheek Louch bought a recording studio in his hometown in Yonkers and convinced group-mates Jadakiss and Styles P. to invest in their own label, D-Block Records, in 2003. Following the releases of Sheek Louch's solo debut Walk Witt Me, a series of mixtapes, along with the two D-Block compilations, YO's Finest, and We Are Still The Streets, D-Block is beginning '05 with a bang on Peer Pressure. Also slated for release this summer is J-Hood's solo D-Block Records debut, Tales from the Hood.
