Vamonos Pa'l Monte
Eddie Palmieri is considered one of the most creative, unique artists in musical history. As a pianist, composer, arranger, orchestra director, and above all, as a leader in producing albums with successful artists and bands he pioneered early salsa with jazz influenced piano riffs. This is perhaps the best Palmieri album from the early '70s with socio-political overtones. This classic album also has his brother Charlie on organ. It's a killer that contains the hypnotic groove of the title track and the pseudo funk of "Caminando" among other awesome tracks. Great sidemen (Nicky Marrero, Jose Rodriguez, Ismael Quintana, "Chocolate," et al.) add to this essential album.
