Description
It's always kind of weird when hip-hop meets the whole laptop stratosphere of things. I mean it's not exactly like Kool Herc and laptops emitting noises ala rats chewing on cables sound very similar. Percee P is a legend and has been hustling forever. Anyone who's lived in the New York area in the past 10 years and frequented Fat Beats in that area, might remember the Necro sightings more vividly. But, Percee has been on that block forever with wool jumpsuits in August and all. I remember kicking it with him briefly on the way in about 5 years ago and being blown away that he was more into some old school clipping. He hadn't even mentioned some Moleman album he was on that actually dropped that day. Percee's flow has always kind of been catered to that fast paced kind of hectic style of production. You can see that real well on "Legendary Status" which dropped early 2005. Four Tet's "A Joy" first appeared on his last album and now gets the remix treatment with Percee jumping on the track. The results are pretty good in the end with the electronic type beat really suiting the way Percee rhymes. The whole 12" is getting pretty good reviews across the board even from some people who one wouldn't per say are Four Tet fans. These laptop producers aren't going anywhere (check Prefuse 73's stupidly dope offering with Ghost face) so you might as well start at least checking this stuff.
