Product Details
Pete Rock is considered by most to epitomize the true essence of hip-hop. Pete started out as a DJ in the late 1980s with Marley Marl before making the logical progression to MC & producer. Pete Rock's debut on wax occurred when he teamed up with his good friend CL Smooth in 1991 to release the classic All Souled Out EP. Two group albums later and a slew of classic remixes (Public Enemy, Notorious BIG, Run DMC, House of Pain and more), Pete quickly cemented his position amongst the greats in the golden era of hip hop history. After splitting with CL, Pete's career was able to go to the next level. Aside from non-stop production work from some of the biggest names in the game (Nas, Rakim, Ghostface, Raekwon, Jim Jones, Black Eyed Peas, Redman) Pete tried his hand at a solo career with a series of albums that got rave reviews and commercial success.
This 12" marks the next chapter in Pete's career and his first solo album in 3 years. From his forthcoming LP "NY's Finest" (Nature Sounds) Pete drops a set of assic concoctions with two of NY's most revered crews. "914" is a collabo with Yonkers veterans Style P & Sheek Louch of D-Block/Lox fame while on the flipside, "The PJ's" finds Pete going head to head with Raekwon & Masta Killa of the mighty Wu-Tang Clan. Nothing but classics here from hip-hop's longest running "Soul Survivor". Don't sleep.
