Description
Slugabed is Greg Feldwick, a hotly tipped UK producer from Bath, now living in Brighton. He's won fans from all over the electronic spectrum, with labels everywhere demanding tracks for release.
Slugabed's music is a thick, low-end molasses of sound. He's like a sonic dredger, bringing a wide spectrum of hip-hop, dubstep and grime influences into his productions. Punchy, low-end drums and thick, raspy bass punctuate the murk with fractured flashes of sound that shoot like lazers. Within this stew, Feldwick stills holds onto some rather sweet melodies.
Ultra Heat Treated is the producer's six-track debut for Planet Mu and shows off his catchy, hip-hop-influenced sound nicely. The title track sets the scene with sloppy drums and a stoned dubstep melody broken up by neon arpeggios, while the out-of-focus chords of "Quantum Leap" act as the EP's center-point. Ultra Heat Treated finishes with "Titans," the thundering drums punching hard over a heraldic melody.
