Description
Though he had a few indie releases under his belt long before, Supastition garnered his first dose of national attention when his Nicolay-produced song "The Williams" was hand-selected by Okayplayer Records (record label of ?uestlove) to appear on their compilation album. Shortly after the song's release, North Carolina native, Supastition, inked a deal in 2005 with NYC-based Soulspazm Records to release his fan favorite 'The Deadline' EP (2005) and the critically acclaimed 'Chain Letters' album (2006) which included featured Phonte & Big Pooh of Little Brother and production from Illmind (G-Unit, Busta Rhymes), Jake One (G-Unit, De La Soul), and Australian producer Mphazes to name a few. Later that year, the legendary Rawkus Records re-released 'Chain Letters' with national distribution and promotion. Supa has frequently been featured and praised in magazines such as XXL, The Source, Scratch, Elemental, URB, and other publications. His affiliations with fellow North Carolina artists Little Brother brought him even more attention when Supa appeared on both of their mixtapes (Chittlin' Circuit, Gangsta Grillz: Separate But Equal). Supastition's witty yet aggressive delivery and work ethic led him to guest appearances on songs with KRS One, Royce the 5'9, Elzhi (of Slum Village), Cunninlynguists, Stoupe (Jedi Mind Tricks), Nicolay, Oddisee, DJ Rhettmatic (Beat Junkies), and Illmind & Symbolyc One (of Strange Fruit Project).
Now capitalizing on his many show-stealing performances, Supastition and his official tour deejay, DJ Forge, have completed the first series of the 'Guest of Honor' mixtape. The mixtape features some of Supa's illest guest spots to date as well as unreleased tracks and exclusive freestyles. Known for his sharp wordplay, his skills shine even when beside hip hop's elite as well as up & comers such as Little Brother, Kenn Starr, Oddisee, Wordsworth, and Pumpkinhead just to name a few. Production on 'Guest of Honor' was handled by the likes of G-Unit's Illmind, Justus League's Khrysis, DJ Spinna, Oddisee, M-phazes, Marco Polo, and others. Exclusive tracks and freestyles such as Ego Trips, Other Side of the South, Good Music, and How That Sound prove that Supastition has no plans on slipping lyrically in the near future. This mixtape is a must-have for anyone who appreciates dope lyrics and hard-hitting production.
